Young European Journalists United – Ein europäisches Medienunternehmen

Wenn Schülerinnen und Schüler das erste Mal eine elektronische Schulpartnerschaft mit Mitschülern aus Italien und Spanien eingehen, dann ist sicherlich zu Beginn noch gar nicht vorstellbar, was sich in diesem virtuellen europäischen Klassenzimmer tatsächlich ereignen wird. Zunächst steht die Neugier an der Entdeckung einer anderen Kultur im Vordergrund.

Aber wodurch lässt sich eine gemeinsame Projektarbeit erreichen?

Die Schülerinnen und Schüler des ‚Fit for Europe‘ Kurses der Jahrgangsstufe 9 hatten so viele Fragen an die internationalen Partner, dass wir uns entschieden, eine internationale Schülerzeitschrift auf Englisch zu schreiben. Auf der eTwinning Plattform wurde eine ‚digitale Pinnwand‘ eingerichtet zur Ideenfindung. Danach erfolgte im Forum des Twinspace eine erste Annäherung der Teams mit Vorschlägen, wie diese Ideen umgesetzt werden sollten.

Von der Idee zur Umsetzung

Sodann stand die eigentliche journalistische Tätigkeit an. Um mehr über die europäischen Partnerländer zu erfahren, nahmen wir den Begriff ‚Kultur‘ genauer unter die Lupe. Die Europäische Union feiert das Jahr des kulturellen Erbes. Im Laufe des Schuljahres entstanden Artikel zu drei verschiedenen Themenbereichen:

Schulkultur

Es wurden die Schulsysteme und Ferienregeln in den drei Partnerländern verglichen, über Schuluniformen debattiert, über den Einsatz von Technologie und die Idealvorstellungen von Schule. Diese Projektbeiträge wurden dann unter Verwendung des IKT Werkzeugs madmagz als echte Zeitschriftenartikel editiert und mit Fotos versehen.

Digitale Kultur

Das Thema e-Safety als kulturübergreifendes Phänomen unseres digitalen Lebens wurde als nächstes behandelt. Das Projekt hat die Schülerinnen und Schüler mit digitaler Kompetenz ausgestattet. Es förderte nicht nur die digitale Kommunikation, weil es den Gebrauch des Twinspace und die Erprobung verschiedener kollaborativer IKT Werkzeuge ermöglichte, sondern das Thema ‚e-Safety‘ ist in verschiedenen Facetten behandelt worden, damit die Schülerinnen und Schüler einen informierten und selbstbestimmten Umgang mit digitalen Medien erlernen. Entstanden ist aus dieser zweiten Projektphase das zweite eBook. Es dokumentiert die Aktionen des Safer Internet Day an unserer Schule am 6. Februar 2018 und enthält weiteres Aufklärungsmaterial über Mediennutzung, das nun, als eBook, nachhaltig einem größeren Leserkreis zur Verfügung steht.

Kulturelles Erbe – Die 7 Wunder von Marl

Seit Februar widmeten sich die Schülerinnen und Schüler ganz dem kulturellen Erbe ihrer Stadt bzw. Region. Dabei ging es darum, die sieben kulturellen und die sieben natürlichen Wunder den Partnern vorzustellen. In internationalen Kleingruppen stand dann die Beschäftigung mit dem immateriellen Kulturgut an. Es ging um mündliche Traditionen, darstellende Künste, soziale Praktiken, Natur und Universum, das Handwerk, Formen der gesellschaftlichen Selbstorganisation. Überzeugen Sie sich selbst von der Spannbreite an Themen und ihrer inhaltlichen Durchdringung.

Die Evaluation der Projekterfahrung erfolgte im Forum des Twinspace und als Umfrage.

• Marcel Sharifi:

The team nature and universe, has uploaded the most articles as you see and an old idiom says: "Quality before quantity". But our teams prove the contrary, despite the fact, that we uploaded with a far gap the most articles, we could keep a very, very high quality. If you do not believe, please give us the possibility to prove it, look to our articles.

In our team the chemistry was very good, everyone was able to work autonomously and if he or she had questions, we could clarify it on Whatsapp. Finally, our team created a table of project contributions, with each member and the articles he uploaded to prevent that there are 2 topics two times.

• Leoni Funke:

As the topic "Social practices, rituals and festive events" is a very wide spectrum, we almost had too many ideas. My German team members and I decided to talk about who was going to do what, so we could inform our Italian team members without creating a mess full of wrong information. The German side of group 3 includes a German, two Turks and a Vietnamese, therefore we could not only talk about German culture, but include Turkish and Vietnamese culture. This diverse spectrum, combined with the knowledge and the articles of the Italian girls´, is something that we are very proud of. 

When it comes to the autonomy, I must admit that we had to ask our teacher some questions because we were not always sure about where to post something or how to create an article on the madmagz-website. Personally, I think that we were good at organizing our team once we shared our numbers and were independent despite a few questions. 

• Marie Berit Otys:

At the beginning of the project "eTwinning" I did not know how to work on the TS. By working on our projects, it became easier to work on it. In our WA group we gave each other feedback and wrote about the topics we want to write an article about. If somebody was not sure about the quality of his or her text, the others gave some feedback, so that he or she could get an answer very fast, if something was not clear...  

• Almina Kamic:

Our articles contain the most important information explaining the specific topic. It was written simple so that it remains understandable and not too complicated.

• Eslem Cagman:

Firstly, I didn't understand how it should work, but we contacted each other and it got easier that way and everybody could chose his or her favourite theme depending on the group, so we were independent enough and not lost in the material.

• Melike Oezbay:

At the beginning of our work in the group "Social practices, rituals and festive events", I didn´t understand how it should work because we often didn´t know where we should post something. But I can say that when we shared our numbers, we became a very independent group. The topic of our group was very diverse and so we had a lot of ideas for everyone in our group. We had also one aspect two times, for example in different cultures because of our origin. The work with the Italian girls was a very good experience for me and it was very helpful when the Italians answered to our questions in our Whatsapp group so we gained a lot of knowledge and we contacted each other.

• Thanh Thao Dang

As for the quality of our content I think our group "Social practices, rituals and festive events" did a good job doing research and representing their opinion as well as cultural experience. Though it took a bit of time, I think the group was able to work as a team, but also each on their own perfectly fine. 

• Henning Fathmann:

Our group did a lot of research on the topic we had so we were able to discuss and give our opinions.

• Miguel Respondek:

I think our group did a good job while researching and discussing our topic. Maybe our group was late, but at least we did something.

• Kevin Schmidt:

Discussing every topic and trying to understand our partners‘ opinion was much fun. Everybody has their own opinion, and they have got some points, I didn‘t even think about.

• Milena Schoknecht:

In our group (nature and the universe) quality was very important. We always tried to explain things, if something was not understandable, we worked on our articles again. Additionally, I can say that my way of explaining things has improved very well and I'm grateful for that.
